NEW TOOL – Medicare State Browser

We are excited to announce the launch of a new free web application to help with your Medicare Advantage planning and analysis - the “Medicare State Browser.”

This is a free tool and let’s you easily compare the size of all MA Plans within a state, overlay Star Ratings, and drill into the county-level population.  This is a graphical representation of several datasets available from CMS and we think it’s a really handy thing to have available. 

 Features

- Size of the box indicates plan (hcontract) Membership within the state

- Tooltips show the other states where the hcontract operates

- Two handy statistics for the plan and state:

Plans’ market share within the state

Running total of Plans membership sorted by state

- Drill down the county wise membership

- Running total of Plans’ membership by county

- Stars Vs Plan membership trend for historical data

- Change the color and the window size as needed

Instructions

Step-By-Step Instructions for Using the Medicare State Data Web App

         - Select the TOOLS menu and click the Medicare State Data submenu  

         - Access the filters and available looks (color and the window size) sections by clicking the menu at the top left.

Filter items

  State         - To select the specific state   

  Plan Type  - To select the specific Plan Type

  Measure   - To select the specific Plan Type

  Colour palette: To click the specific color palette radio button based on that chart box color will change.

  Window Size: To enter the desired width and height in the box and click apply button based on the given value right-hand side chart size will change. If you want to reset the default size then click the reset button.

  Share Link:  If you want to send a mail or save the Medicare State Browser URL then click this.

  Tool Tips:  If you hover any of the boxes then the tooltip window will open.

  Pin/Unpin: Click the pin button in the right top corner to pin and unpin the tooltip.  

  Close: Click the close button in the right top corner to close the tooltip.
